Key Action: Partnerships for cooperation and exchanges of practices

Action Type: Cooperation partnerships in youth

Background

Rural Entrepreneurship for You(th) project was a three year long cooperation partnership project based on the needs analysis among our youth, youth workers and leaders of our organizations. The project responded to the needs of all our partner organizations to prevent and lower youth unemployment among young people and promote rural entrepreneurship by providing young people with new, practical entrepreneurial ideas, knowledge, skills and competences they could develop, as well as share with them good examples of living a healthy lifestyle in a rural environment, and help creating their own businesses in the area of green and media jobs. Besides the above mentioned the aim of this project was to develop a collaborative, interactive educational online platform and offer new practical entrepreneurship ideas, knowledge, skills and competences that support, promote and inspire self-reliant, sustainable living and youth entrepreneurship in rural areas, and consequently, enhance youth employment in rural areas and communities in the countries of the partnership members and beyond.

Objectives

The objectives of this project were: 1. to develop entrepreneurial skills, offer new ideas of green and media jobs and foster skills and competencies of the participants to promote entrepreneurial attitudes and enhance employment opportunities; 2. to promote sustainability (social, environmental, economic and cultural) and self-reliance; 3. to promote social inclusion; 4. to promote a healthy, balanced lifestyle among young people; 5. to provide participants with intercultural experience and create appreciation, tolerance and awareness of different cultures; 5. to promote Erasmus+ opportunities for youth, Youthpass and the idea of ESC; 6. to support the internationalisation of our organizations; 7. to develop transversial skills of youth workers and youth. The objectives of our project have been strongly connected with Europe 2020 strategy that emphasises smart, sustainable and inclusive growth as a way to overcome the structural weaknesses in Europe's economy. The aimed results were for KA2 projects, because we intended to use innovative approach to address our target groups (by an online interactive educational platform), and the project also increased the capacity and professionalism of our partnership organizations.

Implementation

To help us achieve the project objectives, we decided to organise trainings in person as well as online trainings and webinars for young people. Besides that as a result of our mutual cooperation, our partnership has developed a collaborative, interactive educational online platform around the topics of the project, relevant for rural entrepreneurship and in correlation with the training activities. In the project cycle we also included three Transnational Project Meetings in Germany, France and Spain respectively for the project coordinators. We organised three LTTAs (Learning, Teaching, Training Activity) for the youth - in Hungary, Sweden and Italy - each meeting with 2 participants from each partner organization and contributing trainers from our organizations and guest presenters, facilitators as well. In order to successfully manage our project activities, we had regular fortnightly or monthly online project meetings of the coordinators and project teams. Drawing near the end of the project all partner organizations organised a multiplier event in their country, and it is important to mention that we have organised different dissemination activities during the project timeline.

Results

On the one hand the measurable, tangible result of our project is a collaborative, interactive educational online platform, and on the other hand about 30+ youth from our organizations have personally received non-formal education on rural entrepreneurship in the LTTA meetings of the project. The intangible results include the development of various rural entrepreneurship knowledge and skills of young people, enhancing their 8 key competences according to the YouthPass standard, increasing participants' knowledge of the Erasmus+ program, as well as improving their soft skills. Hopefully, some of them may become entrepreneurs or will start working for rural organizations after the project, and some interested young people will apply for Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs and European Solidarity Corps opportunities for personal and professional development.Besides the above mentioned the project team has established a Facebook and Instagram page for the project, a WhatsApp group for the project coordinators and another one for the training activities involving young participants in the coordination, organization and implementation of the LTTAs, and during the trainings we worked with and used Youthpass. We hope that the results and the envisioned impact of this project have changed the lives of some young people, firstly those youth who participated in the LTTAs, secondly all those who have come into contact and have been inspired by the online dissemination activities of the project and its results. Participating young people or people in general have had the opportunity to develop for the better by growing and shaping new entrepreneurial skills and competences, they have been empowered to start their own businesses in the countryside and rural communities, and actively influence the life in their local rural areas and grow in their self realization.
